An entry for The Delphinium Society Scottish Group is to be included in a new
book entitled 'Scotland for Gardeners and Plant Lovers' which will be published
in 2009.
The Author states that
the book will include colour
photography throughout with an A - Z of over 500 gardens, garden centres,
walks, etc. There will be a list of garden shows and specialist societies
together with a brief history of gardening in Scotland, maps and 'Best of'
lists. He further states that the book is
a compact colour guide
to all that Scotland has to offer gardeners and garden lovers including
surveys and reviews of virtually all Scotland's gardens which are open to the
public, recommending when to visit and what to look out for, as well as
specialist nurseries, garden centres, wild flowers, walks, shows, public parks,
etc, etc.
Images are by Ray Cox, the photographer of Suki Urquhart's
'The Scottish Gardener', the
ideal book for the Scot or the tourist who
wishes to explore the world of gardens and plants in Scotland. The
Author is Kenneth Cox, son and grandson of renowned plantsmen. He is a
nurseryman, gardener and garden centre owner at Glendoick, near Perth,
Scotland, a garden world famous for rhododendrons. He has been an expedition
leader to unexplored parts of Tibet and India, in the process of which he has
introduced several new rhododendron species. He is also a successful
rhododendron/azalea hybridist and has written several books on rhododendrons
and plant history. His book 'Garden Plants for Scotland' is being published in
2008.
The foregoing introduction to the book
is based on the author's
description and is
not the Society's description.
