The Society’s Fourth South of Scotland Show

As last year, the Organisers are providing their own small marquee for the Show. This is the major social event in 2008 for The Delphinium Society in the West of Scotland. Members are urged to attend, meet other Members and support their Society. It is the Members’ Open Day and admittance will be by production of their Society membership card. New members will be welcome on payment of their £6 annual membership fee.

Entries are to be submitted on the morning of the Show and staging will start at 9am. Judging will commence at
12 Noon and the show will be open to the public from 2pm to 5pm, after which time exhibits may be removed.

The Society is indebted to Cumnock Gardening Club who are providing all the vases for the Show.

  • 3 One spike, white or cream shades, any cultivar
  • 4 One spike, light, excluding white, any cultivar
  • 5 One spike, dark, any cultivar
  • 6 One spike, multicoloured, any cultivar
  • 7 Six florets, not more than two cultivars, to be exhibited in a circular bowl fitted with heavy mesh support.

  • The Novice Shield will be awarded to the best exhibit in the novice classes.
    Important Footnote:- Exhibitors are asked to donate a fee of £2 to stage in the above classes.

At this Open Day The Delphinium Society will play an appropriate role in providing a display of delphiniums in the borders being developed for a National Collection for Scotland and, if possible, a flower arrangement display. All Members of the Society will be welcome and we shall look forward also to meeting anyone who wishes to become a Member.

The Society’s Sixth West of Scotland Delphinium Championship

This is the sixth Championship Show to be staged outside England and we are indebted to The Ayrshire Horticultural Society for agreeing to be our hosts and Partners in this important development for The Delphinium Society. This Championship is open to all members of the Society.

Schedule of Classes

The Wonderwest Trophy will be awarded to the Best Spike in Classes 71 to 78
The West of Scotland Delphinium Championship is Classes 71 – 77
